‘Guess what! I have
written a book.’ After having made this
announcement a few times now, I soon learned to have a ready reply on hand to
answer the predictable first question that always followed.
What is the book
about?
Not as easy to answer as it appears. ‘It’s about a girl struggling to find her
feet while her head is in the stars.’
This is what the story is about to me.
But as an answer, it really doesn’t say much. ‘It’s an adventure story, for young people – how young? –you know, teenage-young, but
older people like it too – what like,
Harry Potter? – Sort of. Both
stories have parallel worlds, which makes them fantasies. Is it
fiction? (Yes, I have been asked that question after such an explanation) –
Umm …yer sure, why not…
In response to my struggles to compose a succinct reply that
sounded both intelligent yet airy at the same time – as if I had just pulled
the answer out of thin air (which I guess is what ‘airy’ means), I have put
together Reel Time with A J McMarson.
That was one of the reasons.
But not the ‘real’ reason why I have my own youtube show. Having spent the last few years watching over
my eleven year old son’s shoulder, as he watched the ever growing availability
of youtube channels, mostly from America – I suddenly realised– hey, look at
all the fun those dudes are having! And
so, now, I am too.
